Wander far, echo loud – let the world hear your adventures!
Where footprints fade, Memories remain!
Explorer’s Echo is a personal travel blog by MEGHA, a lawyer by profession and a traveller by passion who has been working really hard to chase her dreams across the globe. I am a 26 year old, female traveller who believes that “travel makes you learn & grow as an individual” and I can firmly assert that travelling has given me the lessons, experiences, maturity and beautiful vision towards life which no other materialistic thing (which could be bought by spending money) would have ever given me. So, for the people who think “travel is waste of money”, I would say “certainly not, it is an investment upon oneself and the returns are higher than you can ever imagine”.
I was born in New Delhi, India and like every other Indian child who grew up watching American movies, had dreams of travelling across the globe. Somehow Europe continent always charmed me more than any other place in the world. I believe the beautiful landscapes Europe has to offer along with historical monuments, beautiful old towns (city centres), magnificent architecture, serene beaches and above all the cleanliness and safety, made it the number one travel destination for my bucket list.
My journey of travelling started as a kid when my parents would take us (me & my brother) to nearby hill stations for road trip in India like Shimla, Manali, Mussorie, Nanital etc. As I grew up, we travelled to more places in this beautiful land of India with diverse landscapes like Jaipur, Udaipur, Goa, Pune, Mumbai, Varanasi, Khajuraho etc. With every trip, this sense of hunger for mapping the world one day kept increasing and I can never forget how excited I was for my first international trip (as a 14 year old) to Kathmandu, Nepal. It was a wonderful experience and infact it was my first time I sat on a flight and I still hold the reminiscence excitement and thrill for the 14 year old kid who stayed awake whole night imagining how the next morning would feel.
My second international trip was to Bali, Indonesia and Bangkok, Thailand. It was certainly one beautiful, mesmerising and eye opening experience which lead to what I call “my travel lust”. It made me determined to travel as much as I could, especially during my youth but God had different plans with Covid. This trip was just before Covid-19 came and ruined travel plans for all of us.
In amidst of Covid-19 wave, I completed my law school and became a lawyer and soon in 2022, I decided to pursue Masters degree from University of Vienna, Austria and I certainly believe that it was the best decision of my life. It changed my life in ways I could never imagine. On 30th September 2022, I had my first ever solo trip which was a start of a new journey in Vienna, Austria. I can still recollect the mixed emotions I felt since I had never been to Vienna before, I knew not a single soul in the city and it was the first time I was ever travelling to live in a place far from my family, culture, language or experiences but absolutely it was exciting and was my first step towards the ‘dream come true’ moment in my life.
I did not know at that time that this was start of my travel journey at the age of 24. The last years have changed my life in ways I could never imagine and that is why my blog is filled with word ‘magic’ because this is what I certainly believe it to be. Last two years of my life were nothing but “magic”.
So to an ending note, I would tell you all to believe in your dreams and believe in ‘magic’ because it certainly happens with people who are positive, kind, humble, gracious and thankful in life. You just need the courage to walk towards it. You will feel nervous, anxious and uncomfortable in the start but this is when you need to stay strong and decide to live for oneself (atleast for whatever time you can with all the responsibilities of life). I know being a full time traveller like famous travel bloggers is not possible for most of us and I am also nowhere close to that. And I understand Travelling is not always relaxing or easy, especially living on a ‘no savings’ account and working/earning only to plan your next travel might not seem ideal to many, infact I know it is insane but at the end its all worth it. It is definitely life changing experience for many of us.
Here I am, recalling the lyrics of this wonderful song “The Nights by Avicii”,
… One day, my father, he told me, “Son, don’t let it slip away”
He took me in his arms, I heard him say
“When you get older your wild heart will live for younger days
Think of me if ever you’re afraid”… He said, “One day, you’ll leave this world behind
So live a life you will remember”
My father told me when I was just a child
“These are the nights that never die”
My father told me
